Hunger by Michael Grant

Hunger by Michael Grant is the second in the Gone series. The first book is Gone. Spoilers below!

Hunger is about the aftermath of the Caine vs. Sam war. Caine has been seriously injured and is recouperating at the Coates Academy. Sam is extremely stressed because there is a famine going about, on top of that he was Astrid to worry about. Astrid is exhausted since Litte Pete has displayed amazing powers. Lana is going to come face-to-face with the Darkness. It's a civil war between freaks and normals. The big question is: who will live?

This book gets a 3.5 out of 5 cups of cocoa because there was a good amount of action, but it seemed a bit redundant. There were many, many story lines. Sometimes is was a little confusing. There was a few cute parts between Sam and Astrid, and with a few other characters. The ending was epic, and amazing, even a little confusing. I could not WAIT for Lies, the third novel, I am reading it now.

Boys, Girls and other Hazardous Materials by Rosalind Wiseman

I really like this book and am going to give it a 4/5 cups of cocoa.

This book is about a girl named Charlie who decides to go to a new school for her freshman year of high school to get away for these terrible girls at her old school. She runs into her old best-friend and realizes he is much hotter than she remembers. This novel is basically about the trial and tribulations of her high school, and it addresses some issues that may occur in real high schools.

I am giving this book a 4/5 because it was a good book that I would recommened to a friend. There was not a lot of romance at all, but there microscopic bits were really adorable. The issues that were addressed were really intelligent.

Cloaked by Alex Flinn

Cloaked is about a boy named Johnny who works in a shoe repair shop with his mother. His father has been MIA for years. Only his best friend Meg keeps him grounded. But once Princess Victoriana arrives, his world turns upside down. Victoriana asks Johnny to go and find her brother who has been turned into a frog. Johnny at first doesn't believe her, but eventually he realizes that she isn't crazy. Alex Flinn combines many folk tales into this novel.

While this isn't my favorite Alex Flinn book (that honor goes to Beastly), this novel is definately worth reading. I give this novel 3.5 cups of cocoa. I did really like this novel. I think the romance is not as defined or as much of a focal point as in Beastly, but it was good. I am looking forward to reading A Kiss in Time.

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

This is the second book in the Prequel series to The Immortal Insruments, The Infernal Devices.

This book I bought and read on my Kindle, it has the honor of being the first one. I was so excited for more Will and Tessa romance; alas, I was taken for an insane romance-ride between two men and Tessa. It was an intense love-triange, and while she does not end up with my choice, Cassandra Clare has more for us. This book recieves a 4 out of 5 cups of cocoa for me. I did not like the path of romance Tessa was going down. There was also a bit of a sense of droning on. I did love the romance issues that ensue between Charlotte and Henry.

This novel is about Charlotee and Henry's, well mainly Charlotte's, attempts at keeping the Institute. They have 2 weeks to find or locate the Magister or they will lose the Institute to Benedict Lightwood. If you are looking for romance, this book does not dissapoint.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver

This is the first novel in the Deliruim series by Lauren Oliver. The next book, Pandemonuim comes out in late February.

This novel is about dystopian America. Love is a disease in this world and when someone is 18 they get a procedure to "cure" them. Those who refuse are called Invalids. Lena's mother could not be cured. She had the procedure 3 times. She was a sympathizer; she loved her children. Lena's mother commited sucicide when she was young. Lena is about to be cured of love herself, but there are a few issues that arise.

I was not sure how I was going to like this book, but I completely suprised myself. Definarely give this book a good 100-150 pages before you decide whether or not you like it. This book was sooooo adorable. I totally could not put it down--except we were at school and I had to. I cannot wait for Pandemonium. 4.5 out of 5 for an uneasy beginning and an end that I did not like, but that was the intent of the author.

The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore

This is the second book in the I Am Number Four series by Pitticus Lore.

This novel is not just told by John's (Four) perspective. It is dually told by Marina (Seven). Marina is living in Spain at school/orphanage/nunery called Santa Teresa. Her Cêpan, Adelina, has seemingly given up on the destiny of the Nine Garde members that came to Earth. She is coming into her legacies. Convinced that there are Mogadorians in her city, she seeks her chest and how to get out and find the other numbers.

John Smith, Four, is currently on the run with Six and Sam. John has left Sarah behind, but he can't stop thinking about his one true love. However at the same time, feelings for Six leave John even more confused. He and Sam are utilizing the Chest and train themselves. They need to find the others, and fast.

This book is going to recieve 3.5 cups of cocoa from me. I didn't find Marina's narration of much interest. I favored John's narration. The ending also lost my interest a bit. I say this because I sometimes noticed myself skimming.

Smokin' Seventeen by Janet Evanovich

This book a part of the Stephanie Plum series. This is book 17. I, personally, do not feel as if you have to read the books in order. I did not.

In this installment of Stephanie Plum, a dead body turns up in the lot of the burnt-down Vincent Plum Bail Bonds office. Then another one shows up. And a little while later, so does another one. The same person is murdering these people and they have ties to Stephanie.

Meanwhile, Stephanie ticks off the local neighborhood cook, Grandma Bella. Grandma Bella is, ironically, also the grandmother of Stephanie's it's-complicated-on-again-off-again boyfriend, Joe Morelli. Grandma puts "The Eye" on Steph. "The Eye" is never good. Anyone who recieves this curse is plauged by misfortune. In this case, she has given Stephanie the Vordo. Which of course makes her "hungry" for men and what they have to bring to the table. Between Joe and Ranger, Steph has her hands full. And in the end, she must pick ONE!

I give this book 4.5 cups of cocoa out of 5 because I solved the mystery before I should have and it was a little dirty-minded for audiences not at least in high school. I really love Janet Evanovich's writing-style and her humor. My parents and I both read the novels and every single one of us has laughed out loud while reading. Totally loved it.

How I Review Books 101

I rate books on cups of cocoa, which are basically like stars. 1 means that I really did not like the book or did not finish it. 2 would mean that I did not really like it, but there were somethings that I liked. 3 would be given if I thought the book had a few nice moments, but overall really was not something that I would plan on reading again. A 4 would be given if I thoroughly enjoyed a book but that I had a few minor issues with it. 5 cups of cocoa is a book that I intensely enjoyed and, while there maybe a thing or two that i was not the largest fan of, I realize that was probably the intent of the author and I still totally love it.

And that is how I rate/review books
